Fancy, Don't Let Me Down. Original watercolor, Grey Crowned Crane, 16x20 inches.
The Grey Crowned Crane is a magnificent bird, and I'm really proud of this one. I painted her bigger than my usual, which made those eye and beak details so much easier to get right. When I asked for name suggestions, sassy and fancy kept coming up, and she ended up named after a favorite song. Her colors stay close to the real bird, that gold crown and the red on her cheek, though I let the wine red in her wings run a little deeper than in life.
Colors: slate grey, soft black, white, deep burgundy and golden yellow.
Original watercolor on 300lb textured cold press paper, 16x20 inches, unframed. Signed, with a Certificate of Authenticity. One of a kind. Fine Art Prints of her are available too. Information on commissioned pieces is on my Commissions page.
